Amidst the Mediterranean marvels...

Writer: Dhairya vyasDhairya vyas

Traveling is the best teacher, It is also necessary, New places, new experiences is what we stay alive for. It is almost an involuntary urge, humans have been explorers for as long as history books can be dug into. I recently went to Turkey, an amazing place in the Mediterranean region, There were in total 5 different places in Turkey where I stayed, but, I want to talk to you about turkey not making it seem like an encyclopedia, but poetry!

Istanbul

Amidst the hustle and bustle of people and cats,

roam people with a knack for business and fancy hats,

Culture found at every corner in the concrete jungle,

Don't go peeking in the wrong street, you might just stumble!

The bustle goes quiet in the site of prayer,

New history unfolds as you peel the sweet layer.

Things to buy and eat abundant,

If you wish to miss Istanbul, going to Turkey is redundant.

So much to see, your energy is tested!

Move along, once your feet have rested.

Cappadocia

With majestic structures of rock, this place is infested,

The symphony of sand and sky is beauty manifested!

Through houses and streets made from bricks of old,

For eyes who prefer scenery, its a pot of melting gold.

A place with flora and feline,

If you wish to stay here, stay for a lifetime.

The hot air balloon is a dream which stayed one,

You could not buy the feeling even if you paid a ton!

Residing in rooms made from caves,

I got to see how in the lap of unique nature how my heart behaves.

Antalya

On another step of our journey we were greeted with a surprise!

"Ladies and gentlemen the flights are delayed" those words closed our skies,

Fear not, because we took to the road,

A blessing in disguise to witness earth's homely abode.

A city busy with people, yet held untouched beauty,

Stalls of fresh fruits all along, even the air felt fruity!

A place with a little bit of a hotter weather,

A place famous for pottery and leather.

Crowd went quiet when we entered the green and blue,

It barely rains, the clouds seldom catch a flu.

Pamukkale

A place with a magnificent view and beautiful mystery,

A necklace of sites studded with gems of history.

Cities of old which now lie abandoned,

Weights of earthquakes which marble pillars never handled.

Carefully preserved the relics of yesterday,

Look! Look! the water has come out to play.

Structures of mineral constructed by streams and waves,

To take a piece of this forbidden fruit this heart craves...

A short lived journey where I spent sighs and exclamations many,

I would take with me another memory if time I had any.

Kusadasi

Yesterday's ruins in the sands of today,

Great kings and poets, under the sand quiet they lay.

Each morning I was greeted with the sea.

I saw the sun set on the horizon as long as it would be.

Statues made by hands gone and skilled,

It was time to head home after this but at least my heart was filled.

Under deep canopy of trees a religious place hidden in time,

I took with me a piece of its love, now buying souvenirs is not a crime!

The sounds of the waves and marble on which Romans and Greek had drawn and wrote,

Completed my symphony, and my song's final note..
