At death's door

The king and the beggar, all must go. Death treats all equal,

The movie does not end there, there is a sequel.

Hell or heaven the karma is yours to choose,

vast sums of money and expensive jewels have no use.

The body withers away but the souls lives on,

New grass comes and old grass goes, god mows the lawn.

We collected and took, when we should have given,

People forget to donate, all greed driven.

You might move mountains but death you can't avoid,

as soon as we are born the missile is deployed.

So proud of our bodies, the bodies as frail as glass,

The day of judgment comes, the muscle won't matter nor will the mass.

Does not matter what religion you follow, no matter what god you preach,

The greed will destroy you, satisfaction will feel just out of reach.

A life full of struggles where time heals all, There is no golden fleece,

after one reaches at death's door, its time to rest in peace.

Quench the thirst of the needy, you too will need water on the way,

finding peace when you are not satisfied is like finding a needle in hay.

They were not there during tough time, at your funeral they will weep,

Do good, don't sow what you don't want to reap.

Death is not in your hands, it has all been written,

Love has been forgotten, by the snake of hatred they have been bitten.

Death might seem dark but it is the ultimate light,

The soul can be at peace, when alive, within one continues to fight.

The one who has laughed and loved has known the way to live,

Happiness is not when you selfishly take, its when you selflessly give.

At death's door one weeps for the life they could have lived,

Think of the moments you laughed, the pains you survived.

Death is not a negative thing, when one dies, they are freed of their suffering and pain, we should pray for their painless journey to the beyond rather than weep over their death. Without death, there can be no life. I have been hearing this from so many people but I had to think deeply for it to penetrate my mind. I understood that it matters how you lived, what impact you left on people.
