Blindspot [ Part 1 ]

Hello There readers!! I am back with a suspense story for you all! You have to help Detective Ashton Fletcher to solve this mystery...

It was just another gloomy day in London, I was sitting on my couch sipping my hot chocolate. “A noble man like you should have tea, Mr. Fletcher” they say. Detective Ashton Fletcher can drink whatever he wants and still be a noble man.

I had not finished my cup when I heard a knock on my door. “Ah, Tom! Come in”

Tom looked at me and asked, “How did you know it was me?” I said, “You always knock in the same pattern, I could tell it's you even if you came dressed as a monkey” “Your sense of humor is weird, Ashton. Anyways, I have a case for you to investigate.” “Please tell me it's not another bank robbery, they are boring and obvious.” Tom handed me a photo, it was a man on the floor. Dead. I could make out by the looks of it, that he was Stabbed and beaten on the head several times.

“This one looks interesting,” I said.

We were off to that house the next morning to investigate. The London police were already there. “Hey Ashton! Good to see you ``''Officer Harry, so you came to the best to get the case solved, eh? He gave me a weird smile for that.

I went in and the house staff was all lined up.

There was a gardener, a house maid, a nanny, a watchman, a driver, a cook and a butler. “Is this like a Sherlock Holmes story where I need to figure out who the murderer is?” “Umm, pretty much!” Said Harry. I began investigating and asking questions to all of them. The first question I asked was the most obvious one, “Where were you at the time when the murder took place”. The gardener was out to get new flowers for the garden, the cook was in the kitchen making food, the butler was doing the house bills in his quarters, the watchman was asleep, the driver was washing the cars in the parking area. The housemaid was absent when the murder took place and the Nanny was preparing the bed for the man’s 10 year old son who was trying on his Halloween clown costume and playing around the house.

The Butler confirmed that the housemaid had informed she would not be coming and was absent for three days. She can go, I said. I did see the new flowers in the garden and could make out that they were bought recently. The neighbor had seen the driver cleaning the car and the gardener coming back with the flowers after the time of murder. The Nanny who was in the house said that she did hear a ruckus going on inside the room. She did not want to disturb so she went in later to check, only to find the boy crying over his father’s body. I went into the room to further investigate. The glass of the window was broken and the glass was outside. The killer escaped, but how did he get in in the first place?

The nanny said that she had found the door wide open before she heard the ruckus in the room and closed it thinking she had left it open. She saw the watchman sleeping peacefully outside and gave him quite a scolding for sleeping on duty. It was when she closed the door, she heard the noise. “Where is the kid now?” I asked. “He is at his grandma’s house. she lives in Las Vegas. He was shaken up by the incident and did not want to stay here.” I was not surprised that the kid did not want to stay, I was told he lost his mother a year ago too.

I kept staring at the body, random stab marks all over the body….. Multiple wounds on the head…… the murder weapons left around without any fingerprints on them…..

None of this seemed like the work of an expert, except the part with no fingerprints. I did not intend on asking anything to the kid as that would only worsen his grief. He probably was not in the right mind to talk anyway, after the horrors he had witnessed before him.

None of them seem suspicious at all.....The knife was from the kitchen but the nanny confirmed confidently that no one had entered the room as she was around that area and she would have seen it. The neighbors were not acting suspicious either. It takes a lot of practice to keep a straight face after killing someone, and the way the murder was carried out, this person clearly did not do it before. Who could it be....

Part 2 coming out on 20th November... Stay tuned!
