God said, let there be Greece!

Such a mesmerizing place I went to, I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Exited about the sights that awaited me, I sat in my seat on the plane. As the plane took off, I could not stop myself from gazing outside the window constantly, how could I! It was such a beautiful sight! It was only going to get better....

After arriving at Athens and staying there for a night, I went off to the island of Mykonos. A beautiful little island with a calm vibe and welcoming people. It felt like I was living inside of an aesthetic wallpaper. The streets, the houses, the rolling hills and beach, It was a treat to the eyes and the soul.

At the City Centre, which was a hub for shopping, had a different vibe than the rest of the island. Those narrow and beautiful streets were full of life and energy, The people looking at the things in the shops excitedly and the owners of the shops inviting people in.

The streets were like a maze... exploring them like a child running around in a toy shop, I arrived at the port of the Island. So many things I got to see there, more tourists arriving, fishermen bringing fish to the restaurants and shops nearby. People living simple lives and smiling with peace and harmony. I left no street unexplored and no food untasted.

The old lighthouse, the highest point on the island of Mykonos, the whole island was visible from there, It was very windy there but it was surely worth a visit.

I could see tiny houses on the hills, all the shores and the smaller islands nearby. I took in the scenery as our guide told us about the history of Mykonos island. The cracked walls and faded paint of the lighthouse told a story...... of the days it had seen, the storms it had withstood and the changes it had witnessed.

It is 132 years old and an important piece in the pages of history of Greece.

I visited a beautiful church as well, I got to know how devoted and peaceful the Greek people were.

After staying at Mykonos for five days, I departed for another island named Santorini. It is an island with volcanic soil. There is an active volcano which the island surrounds.

It was no less beautiful. Especially the sunset point in the Oia village in Santorini where after much waiting, I saw the most mesmerizing sunset I have ever seen...

Just like Mykonos, Santorini too had all the houses painted white and with curved roofs. The reason for this is the hot temperature and the strong winds that they experience in Greece.

Have I mentioned how much I ate in these few days? Gelato, pancakes, waffles, juices and what not! [ And still not gaining any weight haha ] .

I got to visit a winery and see how its all done! I tasted a little bit of it and I can say that it looks better than it tastes.

Greece has a very unique cuisine, as most of it is non vegetarian, I only got to taste a little bit of the vegetarian options. It was not that bad, but a little bland for me. Of course, a Gujarati like me needs the spices!

A lot of the culture of Greece is also influenced by Italy, I don't think I will eat Italian food for a long time because I stuffed myself over there!

After Santorini, I stayed for one more day in Athens. Athens has the things I like, historical sites and museums. You can call me boring if you wish to, but that is my kind of stuff.

I visited the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum and also the Panathenaic stadium.

Knowing about the ancient civilization at Acropolis was mind-blowing. The remains of the Acropolis have been preserved for the tourists and it is beautiful to look at! The temples of the old Greek gods are truly a sight to behold. How the people then lived, what they did and what they went through were the things that intrigued me.

The Panathenaic stadium was where the Olympic games started and were held there recently as well!

After exploring Greece and all its beauty, It was time to head back home. I was not happy, but as someone great once said, " Don't cry because it ended, smile because it happened"

When I sat there at the beach, alone in silence, I realized something...

We are so small in front of the ocean, so fragile in front of the waves, so helpless in front of the currents but still we humans hold ourselves so high in our minds....

To break away of this is true freedom...

To surrender to god and nature is true peace...
