I walk down the road of mist with a weight on my shoulder,
My constant companion, death and worry telling its usual tale,
It makes every pebble seem like a boulder!
It keeps me away from danger, some day it too shall fail.
Sire! Exercise caution as thee walks upon this road!
Thou hast no balance, thou can topple over like a toad!
Thy finest thoughts too are useless! Think of tomorrow!
Every second thee spends diddling, is a wasted breath of thy time to borrow!
Oh! look at that lady smile at me from across the street,
I shall smile back, perhaps say hello,
The world needs kindness, strangers who help and greet,
Exchange a few words, sweet and mellow.
Sire! has thyself forgotten the rotten world we reside within!
Let caution prevail over compassion, she could take a knife, and cut thy skin!
Who knows the intentions of this unknown creature,
Art thou so naive to fall for her graceful bodily feature!
Ah! perhaps you are right, I shall run away from this on too,
But am I so alone that I have only my thoughts to talk with,
There! A taxi, that should get me home, oh yes that would do!
I need to go home and clean my shoes of this muddy filth.
Oh good heavens haven't thou glanced at the news a bit!
only yesterday a man got robbed by a taxi driver and had his throat slit!
What if you are the next victim, what if the mud on your shoes ruins your carpet!
Oh what if it all goes wrong, all the pages shall burn in the fire pit!
Well, I need to hurry now, I have to perform tomorrow on the stage,
My friend did not pick up my call, perhaps she is busy,
There is too much to do, I can't just walk home, i need to be quick to earn a wage,
For a life without money is a soda which isn't fizzy.
It breaks my heart to tell thee of this bitter truth,
thy friend isn't busy, but holds hate for thou, thinks of thee as a brute!
thee are sure to ruin thy career as a poet in front of the audience tomorrow,
Oh the horror! put an end to this never ending sorrow!
Oh enough! stop it! stop telling me of all that could go south!
Have you not seen how my hands shiver and my soul shudders!
Just shut it! your useless negative mouth!
Leave me alone! you are not my father, nor my brother!
Sire it is undeniable that I shall accompany thee till thy grave,
The world Is out to get thee, let me lend thee a hand to save,
I shall keep thou away from it all, safe and alone....
All that I have foreseen... all that thou hast never known...
