Lessons outside the class window....

Imprisoned in four walls, my mind wanders off outside the window,

Seeing the sun shine and watching the wind blow.

All the sights of this nature teach many lessons,

why have we come here after all, to learn and grow.

The branches and leaves flexible, adapting and bending to the wind's force,

The ones too rigid and refusing to change, break getting no chance for remorse.

Time ever changing and time ever flowing,

One must learn to adapt and change, to travel effortless on life's course.

The rivers flowing with ease and grace,

Hit rocks and break, quickly back together towards the sea to embrace.

Hurdles and obstacles written in everyone's fate,

Get yourself together and keep flowing, there are more rocks to face.

Birds soaring in the skies undivided and free,

Free of man's hateful poison, soaring like the wind and flowing like the sea.

Man created borders, conflicts and difference,

Fueled by fiery ambition, man will rather fight than agree.

The calm and serene waves of the ocean, has tricks up its sleeve,

Capable of calm and capable of rage, the gentle water can cause ships to heave.

One must be composed, but shall possess the ability for fierceness,

For one who can fight and protect shall never grieve.

Mountains standing tall, unmoved by all forces of nature,

A steadfast will and steady mind makes a warrior, no matter the stature.

A million things good and a million things painful,

The wise is moved by none, no desire to flee hell, nor heaven to savor.

Water takes all forms, it can become a cup or an ocean, vapor or rain,

Comfortable in all places and situations, the mind one must train.

The ability to adapt, the will to endure, all circumstances and all times,

Such a wise one shall never know pain.

Let your love be endless like the sky, let your words be deep like the sea,

Let your smile be bright like the sun, like a bird let your soul be free.

Let your heart open like the petals of a flower,

Grateful towards life, oh lord! what a gift my eyes are that you have given me!
