The search for peace.

Walking down the hard rough road, I finally reach my destination.

The clouds clear away and there is another road, no time for celebration.

I thought I shall find peace when with the climb I am finished

There is always a bigger mountain, more than I just accomplished.

The challenges never end one must keep running,

It won't let you have peace, life might seem very cunning.

The sense of accomplishment dose not last that long,

If you thought there will be peace at the end of the road, you were wrong.

I looked for peace in the water, I searched in the sky,

When I saw the fish I wished I could swim, when I saw the birds I wished I could fly.

One keeps thinking why he does not possess what he admires,

how can there be peace, when one is bound by desires.

I don't want everything, I just want a fraction,

But deep inside I know that no riches will bring me satisfaction.

Climbing the mountain was tough but I found sweet berries on the way,

I did not find peace at the peak, I found It where I lay.

Life is a storm, it is always a test,

One sea after another, the sailor has no rest.

People say peace can be found within,

I did not find peace when I got good grades, I found it when mom packed me a yummy tiffin.

After long I realized, peace was not at the destination,

It was on the journey found in a small celebration.

We keep thinking, "there will be peace after I do this, after I finish that, but peace lies in the little things, the small happy moments. We keep looking for peace in the future, it is in the present, it always has been. You climb one mountain, you find another. This is how life is. The run never ends, one must find peace along the way. It can be anything. I ate some ice-cream after a long time, for those few minutes I was happy and at peace, I got up and looked at the sunrise, it felt so peaceful. When my board exams finally ended, I assumed there was nothing but peace ahead of me, but little did I know I had more to accomplish, more challenges to face, The satisfaction does not last long. There is a reason why people say "rest in peace" after one dies, after death, one is no longer greedy, not jealous, nor bound by desires. Where there is no satisfaction, there is no peace.
